Chief Kyle Whitehead

Hired in 1999 as a full-time officer in the St. George Police Department, early in his career Kyle was a member of the SWAT team. He went on to become an assistant team leader, team leader, and SWAT team commander. Kyle taught defense and tactics at the Police Academy and to St. George Police officers.

In 2005 Kyle was promoted to Sergeant, then Lieutenant (2007), and Captain (2011) before being appointed Deputy Chief of Police in 2018. Appointed as the interim chief in March of 2020, the appointment was made permanent in August of 2020.

As chief, Kyle has been committed to fostering good relationships with all community members with an emphasis on communication. He is proud to work with such a great department full of dedicated people and will continue to ensure the St. George Police Department is viewed as one of the premier police departments in the country.

A lifelong resident of the St. George area, Kyle is married and has three daughters. He received a bachelor’s degree from Dixie State University in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Management from American Military University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
